Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H)

"Sarawak Government to promote Malaysia My Second Home with One Stop Service"

Sarawak Government has stepped up a gear in promoting the State by leading the way in Malaysia by offering a One Stop service for those interested in applying to set up home in Sarawak. This is to be highly commended as Sarawak has been left behind a long way in the world where many places have opened their doors to foreign nationals. Even closer home our Sabah neighbour has done so much to promote its state especially on tourism. However all is not too late.

It aims to bring together all the key government departments so that when a person interested in applying all the assistance required would be made available via one agency. It will have expertise from the Immigration Dept, State Tourism Dept, Sarawak Planning Unit, the Land and Survey Dept and the Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers Association.

The Management of Borneolife is very pleased that its dialogue with the Tourism Malaysia (where responsibility for ensuring that MM2H is given the proper treatment rests with) is beginning to bear fruit.

With our experience and also from our observation during the November 06 promotional trips to China and Hong Kong with the Sarawak Tourism Ministry and Sarawak Tourism Board, we identified several areas where we felt were major stumbling blocks to Sarawak's realisation as a destination for tourism and settlement.

Matters like flight connectivity, areas and ideas to promote (still both a lot to be done!)and the conceptually marvellous policy of MM2H were discussed and presented. However MM2H then was practically a non starter where hardly anything is known of it in the State. It is most refreshing to note that now it has been brought to the forefront where it rightly should be. With this policy we should over a period of time be able to let the outside world appreciate how good it is - A beautiful state and country to live in. No doubt it will bring immeasurable benefits from the ripple effect it has on tourism.

It is always Borneolife's policy to aim at providing one stop service for our clients and we are glad that this agency is the first such body - a step in the right direction.
